About the Item
Signed limited edition contact sheet of print David Bowie by Barrie Wentzell, taken during an interview at 252 Regent Street, London in January 1972. One of the images was used on the cover of the Melody Maker music paper.
Limited edition number 12/50
Barrie recalls : It was a rather overcast day in London and Mick Watt’s and I went over to interview David at his manager Tony DeFries’ rather small and grubby office on Regent Street. As we entered, David was sitting very pretty in this amazingly bright outfit, lazily smoking a cigarette and reading a book. “Hello, come in,” he said, smiling, and after we got over the shock of the new Bowie look, Mick and I sat down and had a cup of tea and a chat about what he was up to with this ‘new look’. During the chat/interview David announced he was gay and always had been much to the shock of our Mick Watts who, though a bit stunned, continued the interview with a quizzical expression of disbelief, while I took pictures and tried not to laugh. True, there were many gay folks in the ‘biz’ but none of them would admit it to the press. I thought David was ‘pulling our leg’ and it was just part of his new act with Ziggy. This photo was used on the front page of the Melody Maker for the next weeks issue, reversed so David is looking the other way. It caused a lot of talk and as David told me later, the publicity had made him, or rather Ziggy, a star.
Freshly framed with non-glare UV protected museum glass. Frame and print in perfect new condition.

- Bob Dylan Contact Sheet PrintBy Barrie WentzellLocated in Austin, USContact sheet of Bob Dylan, taken at the BBC TV Studios, London 1965 by Barrie Wentzell Barrie recalls : On the first of June, 1965, Bob came to the BBC Studios in London, to do a live concert. I went along to rehearsals but the studio was empty, so I headed off to the canteen bar where I ran into some musicians I knew from The Pretty Things. Sitting a few tables away were Bob Dylan and his chum Bobby Neuwirth. I sat and chatted with the Pretty Things, who later would be immortalized in a line in one of Bob’s songs, “The Sweet Pretty Things are in bed now, of course. This Bob Dylan print...Category

- Amy Winehouse 12x16" printBy Jake ChessumLocated in Austin, USSigned limited edition 12x16" print of Amy Winehouse taken in London by Jake Chessum in 2004. Limited edition number 7/20 Jake recalls the session: “I travelled from NYC to London in February 2004 to do a press shoot with Amy Winehouse. It was a classic February day: cold, wet, foggy and dark by about 4pm. We met at her flat and went to a few of her local haunts: a cafe, a launderette, Primrose Hill. The record company were very hands off and didn’t pressure us to do any particular set ups. We just went with the flow. She was really entertaining: funny, smart and cooly indiscreet. I am a huge jazz fan and I remember we talked about music, London and New York.” Jake Chessum offers prints in...Category
