About the Item
"East Village Abstract #3" is a color photograph on Etching Rag archival paper. It's a signed Edition of 20, available in sizes 16x24, 11x17 and 8x12 inches. It is a striking composition, and typical of the artist there are only a few elements at play but they are powerfully at play. Catching the edges of a building in sunlight, the orange bands and shard swipe back and forth through shadow, while the blue sky orients us as to the scale of the scene. It's a sharp but playful observation. Shooting on the streets of New York, looking up and looking for often-missed city/sky collisions, Bob Krasner blurs the line between architectural photography and abstract photography. Surface textures, color fields, lines of light and shadow, pattern, geometry – all combine into an extremely precise moment.
Bob Krasner's photographs have been published by Rolling Stone, People, Vanity Fair, Town & Country, Penguin Books, The New York Times, Random House and The Villager/AM New York, for whom he also writes. He has contributed to the re-branding of many clients' websites, with subjects ranging from financial advice and therapy to high-end beauty salons and major corporations. For his editorial contributions, he has received five first prize awards from The New York Press Association for "Best Art Photograph" as well as several other awards.
In his spare time he takes more pictures. He is somewhat obsessive in his search for abstract images that have some emotional resonance for him and the viewer. For the past five years he has shared these images daily on Instagram, with most originating in New York City and many of those in the East Village, where he resides.

- "Brooklyn Boogie Woogie", photograph, city, architecture, geometry, line patternLocated in Toronto, Ontario"Brooklyn Boogie Woogie" (detail) is a color photograph on Etching Rag archival paper. It's a signed Edition of 20, available in sizes 16x24, 11x17 and 8x12 inches. It's a very interesting detail, and typical of the artist there are only a few elements at play but they are powerfully at play. The surface textures of steel, glass and ceramic are caught in an abstraction – there's musicality to the vertical bands of white and shadow, thick and thin notes against two horizontal fields of orange and slate. Shooting on the streets of New York, looking up and looking for often-missed city/sky collisions, Bob...Category

- "Balcony World", photograph, city, architecture, building, geometry, patternLocated in Toronto, Ontario"Balcony World" is a black & white photograph on Etching Rag archival paper. It's a signed Edition of 20, available in sizes 16x24, 11x17 and 8x12 inches. It is a simple but complex composition (if that's possible), and typical of the artist there are only a few elements at play but they are powerfully at play. The hard line geometry of the rows of balconies and their shadows – their arrangement causes slippage in our viewing. They seem to point down but rise up. And inverting the perspective slightly, we're looking at rows of dead-end brick walls. The shadows now a ground. Shooting on the streets of New York, looking up and looking for often-missed city/sky collisions, Bob Krasner...Category
