About the Item
Here the iconic Statue of Liberty, is celebrated in a Pop Art style. The photographic artwork has a unique painterly abstract effect, the details and subtle colour changes take your eyes around the piece and draw you in.
This artwork is a limited edition of 6, gloss photographic HD print in a tray frame, ready to hang. It is signed and numbered on reverse accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
Following on from the hugely successful ‘Vinyl Collection’, Natasha Heidler & Richard Heeps have collaborated again, drawing from the childhood past time of stamp collecting. Their unique darkroom process, like an x-ray, reveals the detailed make up of the stamp, which is not possible to see in the physical object. Nearly all take the appearance of a woven tapestry, intricate patterns and artworks from the 19th & 20th Century, are brought to life to be appreciated in the present day. And with the practice of stamp collecting enjoyed by todays older generation when they were children, the exotic imagery takes you to a far off land in a time when overseas travel was limited, the post marks make a physical connection with unknown people around the world. The collection is a documentary of history, dated postmarks connect the images to a time unimaginable and with these artworks you can carry on the British Psyche of ‘collecting’ building your own Heidler & Heeps Stamp Collection, with the pieces that speak to you. Interestingly you will notice the imperfections and some of the writing and numbers in reverse and colours quite different to an actual stamp, in stamp collecting that is what makes a stamp valuable, small runs made with errors, but I’m sure you will agree that is what makes them all the more intriguingly beautiful.

At the age of 20, he left "the valley" for Paris where he is going to exercise as a game an activity which fascinates him and will allow him to visit a lot of distant countries by taking in his luggage Leica IIIf and Hasselblad which share his life. He has so produced in Europe, in the United States or in Emirates and Sultanates of the Gulf, uncountable landscapes and portraits; his taste for these last ones asserting itself during journeys in India and in Pakistan. In 2000, he rethought his implication in the photography and decided to dedicate himself to it full-time. He abandoned then quite other activity, tidied up his inseparable IIIf and Hasselblad in a cupboard, took back his Sinar P 20x25 and Nikon-digital then burned symbolically and without mood, his negatives and archival to start all over again. Mainly intended for the exhibitions, he made more of seventy these last years, his photos concern since numerous subjects even if the portrait, the nude and the still life remain privileged. Except his personal works, except the writing of works and except the articles on the photography and workshop / studios which he runs in numerous European countries, Jean Turco works mainly on commission for private individuals or advertising agencies. He uses according to the use of the produced images everything kind of existing shot equipments but the Sinar P2, the chamber of size 8x10 inches (20x25 cm) big film photography format which he processes personally in his laboratory, became his favourite equipment.
