About the Item
Klaus is an aerial photographer and a pilot of a small Cessna plane. All of his pieces were not staged or manipulated and can be custom size.
Since 1989 Klaus is flying with his Cessna 172 and takes unusual pictures from the bird's eye view. Most of these images were taken in Bavaria, South Germany, where he spent most of the 8000 flying hours so far. Besides the aerial archeology Klaus Leidorf is also capturing manmade graphic shapes and constructs or pure nature from a unique perspective with his exceptional photographs. Overhead photos of a site are invaluable for putting it in a wider context and discerning details invisible from ground level. But the details and context Klaus Leidorf sees are not just archaeological, they are also human: multicolored bathers lined up on a beach like jellybeans, or shiny truck cabs parked neatly like Legos. Klaus Leidorf
Klaus Leidorf is a German aerial archaeologist. From 1976–83, he studied Protestant theology and pre- and early history in Bonn and Marburg. Followed by a position as a scientific assistant at the University of Marburg from 1983–85 and as an employee at the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments from 1985–89. In 1988, he followed his fascination for aviation and photography and got his private pilot license. Since then, he has been working as an aerial archaeologist with a focus on Bavaria.
