William Greiner is an American photographer who photographs found public and domestic scenes in color film. He began as a sports photographer at the age of 19 and worked for institutions as The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times. Greiner went back to school and left sports photography behind for a more creative process. He earned a B.F.A. in Photography from Tufts University and later went to complete a M.B.A. in Finance at Suffolk University. While he was a student, he was introduced to the work of William Eggleston and would come to embody and reinterpret the classic style of Eggleston.
After a long break from photography while working as a real estate consultant in New Orleans, Greiner began making new work in 1989 and has been actively exhibiting in international solo and group shows since. His highly sought after work can be found in permanent public collections as The Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, The Center for Photography in Bombay, India, The Dallas Museum of Art in Dallas, Texas, The Hassleblad Center in Gothenburg, Sweden, International Center of Photography in New York, New York, The Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., Museum of Modern Art in New York, New York and, the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C.
