Champagne - underwater nude photograph - archival pigment 23x35"

2016

About the Item

An underwater photo of a naked young woman wrapped in air bubbles. The photograph depicts only her body, the face is not visible. A very bright eye catching artwork. The pool was freezing cold. After 15 minutes of shooting we jumped in jacuzzi to warm up. I took the camera with me and continued shooting even though I could barely see in bubbles. I'm glad I did. This photograph started the Champagne series. Original gallery quality archival pigment print on paper with metallic finish - signed by the artist. Image size: 23x35" Paper size: 24x36" Limited edition of 24, print #3 The artwork is furnished with certificate of authenticity, signed by artist with artist's name, edition number, edition limit, and other details. Sher was born in Ukraine and moved to the United States with his family in 1995. Sher started showing his photographs in the early nineties in Kyiv, Ukraine. He was considering himself an emerging artist until one of his pieces was stolen from an exhibition in Kyiv, leading him to the epiphany that his works represented a significant value to the public. Later in US Sher began experimenting with marine wildlife photography and sharply moved toward figurative fine art. His latest artistic innovations blend figurative and abstract photography into forms that could be almost mistaken for abstract paintings. Sher’s underwater photography began to attract extensive interest in 2015. To date, his works have been exhibited in London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other major cities including the Louvre Museum in Paris. His first solo show was held in 2016 in Los Angeles by Bruce Lurie Gallery. Since his debut, Sher had seven exclusive exhibitions, participated in numerous group exhibitions and prominent art fairs. Sher's photographs are published in 52 magazines articles in 11 countries. His first photo book “Mermaids” has been published in 2018. Sher mastered the profession of underwater coaching. Bringing forth his technical and artistic innovations, he generously shares his techniques with his models and aspiring photographers.

Ian produced images over a 35 year career. For most he worked as both a Commercial and Fine Art photographer; during his last years concentrated on his personal archive. Ian and his widow Nathalie have worked for many years with alternative printing techniques in their workshop, ISP, creating Platinum Palladium, Silver Gelatin, Lith or Gum Bichromate. This culminated in a large retrospective exhibition in Barcelona which was sponsored by the Nando and Elsa Peretti Foundation. Platinum Palladium printing is a traditional photographic technique which precedes silver gelatin technique. Many photographers have worked with it in the past as Irvin Penn, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sebastiao Salgado o Ormond Gigli with its Platinum with gold leaf print 'Girls in the Windows'. ISP Workshop continues with the work of Ian's widow to create archival pigment prints like this one but also rare and personalized photographs. The original Platinum Palladium technique she uses is more advanced by adding another precious metal (silver or gold leaf depending on the desired rendering) that only a handful of artists in the world have the expertise to practice it today. Silver or Gold bring longevity and rarity to the print but also a tonal range and depth unmatched by digital printers which are valued by collectors. categories : Black and white photography, 20th. century, Archival pigment print, sensual, nude, Figurative, Sexy, Grainy, Photographic film, Analogue, Analog, Aesthetic photo, Large-scale, Timeless, Monochromatic, woman in bed
