Two Tango Dancers immersed in their art, strike-the-pose under the towering classical half down. Street Photographer Mitchell Funk was there at the perfect moment to capture a non-posed magical moment in Central Park.
Can a street photograph be a grab shot and precisely designed simultaneously? Mitchell Funk says yes. He brings finely honed photography skills such as composition, intense lighting, and design to found subject matter. The compositional precision normally found in studio photography is evident in his street photography. Unlike most street photographers, Funk is an abstractionist while being a documentarian.

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
