About the Item

Sparshatt Dalzell is a collaboration between photographer James Sparshatt and painter Rachael Dalzell. The portrait was taken in 2003 on Plaza de la Catedral by James. Rachael’s interpretations bring alive her spirit. Photographer James Sparshatt and painter Rachael Dalzell are collaborating to create a series of “Neo Platinum” portraits. The process begins with the production of an aluminium print of one of Sparshatt‘s Spirit of Revolution pieces which is then re-interpreted by Dalzell using the vibrancy of acrylic paints and her distinctive technique to bring a new energy and appreciation. James Sparshatt's Spirit of Revolution series documents the strength and resillience of a generation of Cubans who have lived through a half century of tumultuous history on their island. His black and white portraits capture every wrinkle and line. Shot on the street they exude a natural charm. Rachael Dalzell paintings are emotional reactions to her surroundings. They are as much about mood as they are of place. Using the vibrant colour of neon acrylic paint her unique interpretations of Sparshatt's subjects add a new dimension to the work. Rachael Dalzell's work is held in the Agnes Gund collection and hangs in many public and corporate spaces. She studied Fine Art Drawing and Painting at the Wimbledon School of Art and Complutense Universidad of Madrid. James Sparshatt has won awards from the Center of Fine Art Photography and at the World Photography Gala as well as being a finalist in the Sony World Photogaphic Awards.

Amy Christie Pink Cyclamens on Lime Green Original Still Life Painting Mixed Media on Canvas Canvas Size: H 50cm x W 50cm Framed Size: H 54cm x W 54 cm x D 3.5cm Framed in a White Wooden Handpainted Tray Frame Pink Cyclamens on Lime Green is an original mixed-media painting by Amy Christie. Painted in bright, vibrant colours with acrylics and mixed-media to achieve a textured surface on the canvas. Amy has used silverleaf on many parts of the composition plus a metallic glaze to highlight certain areas. The silverleaf and shimmering glaze catch the light beautifully, so this is a piece of artwork that changes depending on the time of day, the light in the room and the direction from which the painting is viewed… artwork that literally changes before your eyes. I’m a North-Norfolk based painter inspired by the joy and vibrancy of flowers. They are a great vehicle for colour and I thoroughly enjoy selecting, mixing and working into my paints to create a piece that sings. I aim to uplift the viewer with my artwork and feel that I have succeeded in my work if I bring about a smile, a feeling of peace or a moment where all that matters is the beauty of colour and form. I work in acrylics and use textures and glazes with multiple layers of colour to create interesting and exciting effects. Paint is partially removed and pulled back to reveal hidden colours and I often adorn the painting with gold- or silver-leaf to illuminate it even further. I also use antique wooden printing blocks...

Pradosh Swain - Longing Past III - 24 x 60 inches (unframed size) Acrylic on canvas Inclusive of shipment in a roll form. "Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality." Style : Pradosh’s works can be described as psychic automatism in its pure state. His works are expressive and his palette vibrant and gorgeous. Nature is the frequent imagery that we see in his paintings. Sometimes his imagery is outlandish, perplexing and uncanny as it is meant to shake the viewer and make them to think beyond the theories which they have guarded themselves with. Lot of elements that we see in pradosh’s paintings also come from his childhood days in Odisha. His paintings often take us on a nostalgic ride where we see elements which we were so used to and have now learnt to live without. He uses common elements that we see in our day to day life to convey his feelings and thought which makes his works all the more interesting. His paintings leave the viewer perplexed at the first glance but a deeper look gives the insight into his thoughts that instigate him to create. Pradosh’s paintings have a surrealistic quality, the imagery is dreamy and mystical and rendering is such as if there is some kind of romance and magic happening amongst the colours in his palette. His paintings are the result of brilliant culminations of feelings and things that are between imagination and reality. They reflect his genuine concern about issues he feels for. He emphasizes on the power of imagination and believes that revelation could be found anywhere….on the streets and in everyday life. Through his paintings artist depicts the notion that how our high pace life is making all of us loose that contact from the nature or even with ourselves. • Golden Lore IV - contemporary mixed media collage gold abstract
    By Russell Frampton
    Located in London, GB
This recent body of work is informed by my continuing research into the physical and metaphorical nature of archaeological artefacts and votive objects, allied to the referencing of the symbolic forms and materiality of alchemy. Central to this practical investigation has been the use of ‘gold’, and the qualities that the material, with its obvious chromatic and symbolic values, seems to possess. This has driven both the conceptual and pragmatic concerns within the evolution of this work. Gold is an alluring and complex symbol of many, often conflicting meanings, avarice, greed, wealth but also of purity and celebration, and has been used as the adornment of spiritual and religious iconography as a devotional act for millennia. The titles refer to connections I have made with the forms themselves, often when making a painting a word will emerge which acts as a form of poetic catalyst. ‘Parsival’ or Percivale/Peredur was the knight questing for the holy grail...
