Animalia, Insect Butterfly Photograph
Élisabeth Montagnier was born in Algeria. She is a little lost when she arrives in Marseille in 62, does not understand very well what happens, she has not even been able to say goodbye to her girlfriends ... Not very good student, she hardly takes her Bac and wants to enter At the Beaux-Arts in Marseille, but she is too young. At the time she draws all the time (and very badly according to her!). Her father, a feminist before the hour, told him there is no subordinate job for women; and would have liked her to do medicine or law Finally she enters the Julian Met Academy of Penninghen In Paris to prepare entrance examinations to the major art schools. That's where I learned to draw. It can be learned, but if you are not very talented, you have to practice or else you forget very quickly, confides the photographer. At first the picture came as a tool, a help, a palliative to drawing that was not acquired. But I was immediately fascinated by everything related to this medium, the working methods and even the material. The mastery of the technique allows me not to have a brake in my creativity. I imagine and I do. I'm actually a photographer, I always need to have a camera with me, because if I do not, I'm afraid of missing something. Then Elisabeth succeeded her entrance contest at Arts-Déco in Paris, then returned to the Beaux-Arts of Marseille in the section Visual communication. At the same time, she began working for the press and quickly switched to the advertising picture. I was creative but in the pub. In fact, I was trained for visual communication at the Fine Arts, it's not like the plastic arts sections. We were technical, in addition to the photo, we were doing sociology, marketing, graphic design, we were taught a trade she explains.
In advertising, we work for agencies or for clients on-line. Elisabeth also works the artistic photography in her corner, without ever showing what she is doing, until the day when she will be asked her photos for the Issima shop, and everything goes from there! Roland Herlory , director of a large French house, went past this shop, saw her photos and contacted her. He had a space in Saint-Barthélémy in the West Indies, wanted to create a gallery and offered to expose it. So his photos travel all over the world: in South America, in the United States, in Europe. Today she continues to work as an advertising photographer, sharing her time between art and advertising: I like it too, the work of control .
Elisabeth photographed as much outside, with the complicity of nature, as in studio. In her workshop, she staged her images in a way that was her own: while she continued to draw for ideas, she bought and stored all sorts of unusual objects that spoke to her : a multicolored curtain, a buoy, A globe, butterflies, scoubidous, figurines, plastic skulls ... And then she cogits: What could I do beautiful with all this? My pictures must be a happy moment. I have always tried to make people dream, to embellish life, to enliven it. One is daily assaulted by a multitude of violent images. I am very sensitive and I need to recreate harmony, beauty, gentleness and cheerfulness. I would like my images to be champagne bubbles. A photo like a candy in the pocket!

- Vintage C Print "Of Time and Change" Boulders on a Sea ShoreBy Sonja BullatyLocated in Surfside, FL1981, Chromogenic Print. It is supposed to be signed lower right recto but has not been examined out of frame. Provenance: Bernice Steinbaum Gallery, New York; ARCO Chemical Company, Newtown Square, PA. Sonja Bullaty (October 17, 1923 - October 5, 2000) was a Jewish American photographer. Bullaty is known for her "lyrical composition" and strong use of color during her fifty-year collaboration with her husband, Angelo Lomeo. Bullaty and Lomeo's photographs appeared in LIFE, Time and Audubon magazines and journal. They have both exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the International Center of Photography, the George Eastman House, UMPRUM Museum in Prague, in the Nikon House galleries and other venues. Bullaty was born in Prague to a Jewish banking family. Her family gave her a camera when she turned fourteen. Since Bullaty had been forced to leave school at the time, the camera was a "consolation gift." When Bullaty was eighteen, she was deported by the Nazis to Poland, where she was kept in the Lodz ghetto, and then later taken to Auschwitz and Gross-Rosen concentration camps. During a death march near Dresden, she and a friend successfully hid in a barn and were able to escape and return to Prague. When she got back to her home city, she discovered that no one else in her family had survived the Holocaust. Bullaty, "her head shaved," saw and answered an advertisement to be the helper to Czech photographer, Josef Sudek. As his assistant, she mixed chemicals for the darkroom, organized his negatives and learned from his sense of composition.[1] Sudek called her his "apprentice-martyr." Sudek's work often focused on the Czech landscape and windows, such as in the series The Windows of My Studio (1940-1954). Bullaty also photographed windows, but unlike Sudek, who photographed his own windows looking out, Bullaty photographed windows looking into buildings. Bullaty published a book, Sudek (1978), about her mentor, and it was the first publication of his work in the West. Bullaty found work with a photographer on her third day in New York. Also in 1947, she met Angelo Lomeo. They were brought together when she was inquiring about a darkroom in a building he managed. Lomeo was intrigued by Bullaty's accent and went to see her. They started photographing together a year later, traveling and sharing resources; during their time together, they became close. Bullaty and Lomeo were married in 1951. Later, when she was married, she and her husband would visit Sudek and bring him photography supplies. They visited him in Czechoslovakia "almost yearly." In 1971, she helped mount an exhibition of Sudek's work in New York. As photographers, Bullaty and Lomeo started using studio cameras...Category

- Tuscany, Sleeping Woman, 1996 Large Vintage Color Photograph C-Print SignedBy Joel MeyerowitzLocated in Surfside, FLMeyerowitz first drew acclaim for his remarkable ability to capture subtlequalities of light with the 1978 publication of Cape Light, which went on to become a color photography classic, selling more than 130,000 copies. This evocative new collection of images and commentary invites readers to experience the essence of Tuscany; sunlight gilding fields of ripe wheat, darkness lowering under threatening summer skies, and townspeople riding their bicycles through the dappled streets. For those who appreciate the beauty of the Italian landscape and for lovers of photography everywhere,Tuscany is a personal and loving portrait of a truly unforgettable place.Joel Meyerowitz (born March 6, 1938) is a street photographer, and portrait and landscape photographer. He began photographing in color in 1962 and was an early advocate of the use of color during a time when there was significant resistance to the idea of color photography as serious art. In the early 1970s he taught the first color course at the Cooper Union in New York City where many of today's renowned color photographers studied with him. Inspired by seeing Robert Frank at work, Meyerowitz quit his job as an art director at an advertising agency and took to the streets of New York City with a 35mm camera and black-and-white film, alongside Garry Winogrand, Tony Ray...Category

- The Long Room, Trinity College Library, Dublin IrelandBy Reinhard GörnerLocated in Los Angeles, CADiscover the captivating beauty of Reinhard Görner's photography with The Long Room, an awe-inspiring vista into the Old Library at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. This iconic photograph is not only visually stunning, but also evokes a contemplative stillness, inviting viewers to ponder the intersecting realms of art, architecture, and knowledge. Embodying the peaceful grandeur of one of the world's most beautiful libraries, The Long Room stands as a tribute to the rich interplay between aesthetic beauty and the human thirst for knowledge, as well as the exciting contrast between emotional and intellectual resonance. Visual description: This revered hall is one of the most magnificent library spaces in the world, renowned for its dramatic barrel-vaulted ceiling and the historical aura that permeates its walls. Lined with tall, dark wooden shelves brimming with ancient tomes, the room is a treasure trove of knowledge, housing 200,000 of the Library's oldest books. A symphony of wood, the polished oak bookcases adorned with gilded lettering stand as sentinels of history, each carrying the weight of centuries of scholarly work. Above, the vaulted ceiling soars, crafted from oak and imbued with the warm, golden light that streams in, casting a serene ambiance throughout the room. The central aisle runs the impressive length of the room, flanked by white marble busts of philosophers, writers, and great minds who have shaped the intellectual landscape of the Western world, adding a sense of gravitas and continuity to the space. This library is not just a haven for books but also a grandiose example of classical architecture, with the rhythm of the arches and columns providing a structural cadence that resonates with the tranquility and dignity of an institution dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. The Long Room's harmonious proportions and the sense of infinite possibility evoked by the seemingly endless rows of books are a captivating homage to the world of academia. It's a space that feels both timeless and filled with the presence of the countless readers and scholars who have passed through its domain over the centuries. This image captures the essence of a truly iconic space within the realm of global cultural heritage. 60 x 75 inches ed. of 7 $9,000 70 x 87.5 inches ed. of 5 $11,000 signed and numbered on label, verso Reinhard Görner, with his large format photographs orchestrates the monumentality of rooms. An active architecture photographer since 1985, is a master of perspectives and precise spatial compositions, and he thus considers classical sculpture, in all of its possible facets, a special challenge. "Görner’s photographs sometimes open the doors to another world and take the viewer with them on a journey through time. Here the palace is no longer a museum but both royal residence and a site steeped in history. The viewer does not have to share the halls with the masses of visitors; instead the images offer him exclusive impressions of the Galerie des Glaces (Hall of Mirrors) and the Galerie des Batailles (Hall of Battles) as even the king of France was probably never granted. The halls are empty of people, yet they seem to be able to unfurl their individual characters of their own accord. These places practically breathe history, and this aspect is also part of the essence captured in the photographs. King Wilhelm of Prussia was named German Emperor Wilhelm I in the Hall of Mirrors after France was defeated in 1870–1871 in the Franco-German War. The Treaty of Versailles following World War I was also signed there in 1919. In this sense, the architectural photographs of Versailles...Category
