Mitchell Funk
Neon Signs Broadway Theater District in Dramatic Light

2015

About the Item

Golden light skims off the facades on West 44th Street as Neon Lights create a second light source that beckons. Two of Broadway's most famous mainstays, Sardis Restaurant and The St. James Theater serve as a center of focus. Funk is not concerned with the representation of nature in the traditional photographic sense, instead, he hunts for unique moments aided by extreme light, design and camera angle to transform the subject. Signed , dated lower right, Edition 3 /15 Printed later, unframed, other sizes available. Inkjet archival print - Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Mitchell Funk participated in the first color photography show at any major American Museum. "Images en Couleur " Brooklyn Museum 1970. In the 1970's and 1980 he had more than 50 photography magazine covers. He did covers for Life Magazine and Fortune Magazine as well
