About the Item
Signed limited edition print of The Strokes by acclaimed British photographer, Andrew Cotterill.
“This was one of my early shoots for Dazed and Confused magazine. I worked with them a lot in the late 90’s and got some fantastic commissions..All unpaid! You did it for love and experience to get you to the next stage.
I remember being sent to the infamous band hotel “The Columbia” in Lancaster gate London. This was in April of 1998 if i recall and it would have been one of their early trips to London. It was certainly the first time Dazed had featured them.
When i turned up they were waiting outside for me with their PR Jacob who i knew, looking like many other new bands but had a real fun side to them. Julian however was working the Rock and roll vibe. Its a great energy to be around when you meet young fired up bands like this for me. Their room was not something you would imagine in this part of London but worked perfectly for the shoot. So we shot a little out side and the rest in this dodgy room. As you can see from the body language the guys were engaged in having a bit of fun..I used an old Pentax 6x7 camera for this shoot and on the legs image shot it blind from on top of a wardrobe. I have alway loved this image and it was actually one of the images the magazine used.”

East London born Andrew Cotterill is a Photographer with a genuine passion and engendered affinity with his subject matter. His work for Q Magazine, Mojo, Spin, Sony Style, NME, Big Issue and Dazed & Confused has taken him from court photographer of the mid-90's drum 'n' bass explosion to the expert eye on Jamaica's dancehall renaissance. Andrew's, association with music runs true and deep - his passage into photography was a natural progression from his passion of the 80's club and warehouse-party scene. Andrew's entry into magazines came, suitably enough, with pictures of Public Enemey's Chuck D for Dazed & Confused.

- Vivienne WestwoodLocated in Austin, USSigned limited edition print of acclaimed British fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood by photographer, Andrew Cotterill. “I took this picture when i was assisting in the early 90’s. The photographer i was working with said take one of my other cameras and shoot what you see. It was a very kind gesture to mention this, so i did and had a great time. Vivian was wonderful and totally eccentric having created this tiny room she called her “Saloon”. Its was a little scary but probably got me on my way.” This print is available in different sizes: 12 x 16” - Edition 25 16 x 20” - Edition 20 20 x24” - Edition 15 30 x 40” - Edition 10 East London born Andrew Cotterill is a Photographer with a genuine passion and engendered affinity with his subject matter.
