Carlos Gamez de Francisco
Girl Wearing a Snoopy Cap

About the Item

"Girl Wearing A Snoopy Cap" depicts a young female standing in front of a gray background, wearing a shiny blue grey button up blouse. A plastic glaze goes over the model’s face and dark hair. Francisco has years of classical training based on portraits and history. Historically, paintings were commissioned by the wealthy upper class wearing exquisite garments to emanate wealth. Carlos felt that “everybody has the right to be in the portrait” and he embarked on a series where everyday people were featured with ‘found’ objects in their home, like lace doilies, curtains, plastic bags, and kitchen towels, draped and adorned in such a way they appeared ‘royal’.
