Miss Aniela's ‘Surreal Fashion’ series brings together multiple influences and presents staging at the crossroads between fashion photography, classical painting and cinema. Using a complex style that combines natural and artificial, architecture and man, pictorial tradition with digital innovation, the artist creates a visual world that is at times opulent, at times sublime and sometimes bizarre. Each photograph in the series has its own unique aesthetics as well as its own narrative.

Miss Aniela
Using a complex style that combines natural and artificial, architecture and human figure, pictorial tradition with digital innovation, Miss Aniela creates a visual world that is at times opulent, at times sublime and sometimes bizarre. Her ‘Surreal Fashion’ series brings together multiple influences and presents staging at the crossroads between fashion photography, classical painting and cinema. The artworks dreamlike atmosphere is achieved through meticulous attention paid to their locations and the models’ outfits. The photographs are digitally processed in post-production, allowing motifs taken from old masters’ paintings to be added to the scene, giving the composition a surreal atmosphere while maintaining its aesthetic coherence. “We cannot ever create something purely true or original. What we can do, however, is constantly question everything we do create, question everything around us from which we are taking inspiration, and enjoy being the perfection of being imperfect.”
