From a small edition of 25, this stunning selenium toned silver gelatin print was realized by the esteemed Colombian fine artist/ photographer Ruven Afanador in 2007. Inspired by the lyrical poetry of Federico García Lorca and the magical realism of Gabriel Garcia Marquéz, Afanador's photographs are supercharged with mysticism and surreality. This photograph is a striking and iconic example of these qualities that have made him sought after by fine art collectors and institutions around the world. It presents a lady clad in a black evening gown leaning back a dramatically oversized fan opened with its back tracing the line of her silhouette and her long black hair suspended downwards.
