About the Item
" I started my Empty Streets of New York City series in SoHo at the start of the Covid pandemic (early 2020) because of the uniqueness and beautiy of the iron cast buildings, including the cobblestone streets that frame the mood perfectly. Right at sunset on Broome Street, at the corner of Mercer, I'm standing in the middle of it unimpeded and car free. You will never get an empty and pristine street condition like this ever again. Shortly after the lockdown, protests and riots broke out which had buildings boarded up and marred in graffiti. Thankfully I was able to capture the streets unmolested. It is a magnificent and beautiful city. My city. "
Viet Chu is a world traveler for photographic assignments. He finds beauty in life’s special moments in time, capturing each with his unique photographic style.
