Viet Chu
Resilience - NY Architecture Photography, 48"x36", Signed Limited Edition of 5

2020

About the Item

"The 2 buildings on either sides and the Manhattan Bridge framed the Empire State Building nicely, like a portal into NYC. Just like Ellis Island of the past, this is a portal into a new world. Post-Covid19 for certain will redo and reframe many things about our lives, hopefully for the better. The empty, clean street leading to the portal is akin to a new slate, a new beginning... I photographed this scene in the late afternoon in DUMBO, a Brooklyn neighborhood that is always full of people, locals and tourists. Surprisingly, at the height of the pandemic in the Spring of 2020, there were stil a lot of people around. I actually only had about 30 seconds of the street being this empty to snap this one for the book. Patience does have its rewards. " Viet Chu is a world traveler for photographic assignments. He finds beauty in life’s special moments in time, capturing each with his unique photographic style. Chu’s work is a reflection of his journey’s and life experiences. In his approach to capture an image, he utilizes traditional and non-traditional means of lighting. It is then infused with his intuitive sensibility, converging it with emotional intelligence, to create a simple composition of shadows, light, subject and background. His goal is to capture a moment in time that tells a story for the rest of time." Limited Edition of this print, numbered and signed by Viet Chu are available in the sizes below.
