About the Item

David Collins earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, and currently lives and works in New York City. Collins has had numerous solo exhibitions in New York, and has exhibited nationally and internationally. Collins has an ongoing interest in space and memory. Many of Collins’ memories relate to his family’s history in inventing Cold War era technology. Personal recollections of spaces such as homes, airports, construction sites, and public spaces inform his paintings. Collins is best known for his densely layered abstract paintings that reflect upon recollections of specific places and the unreliability of memory by leading the viewer through complex spaces of geometric planes and color. This is a color monotype on Japanese paper.
