1969

About the Item

This offset lithograph is hand signed and dated in pencil by the artist "Richter, 1969" at the lower right margins. It was printed by Hoppe & Werry, Mulheim an der Ruhr. and was co-published by Galerie Heiner Friedrich and Verlag G. v. Pape, Munich in 1969 in a limited edition of 80 impressions with 20 artist’s proofs. This impression is illustrated in the Gerhard Richter official website. Note: In this portfolio Richter produced very elaborate optical illusions. He constructed the nine three-dimensional objects himself and photographed them in everyday environments. Then he had the photographs professionally retouched so that the constructions appeared spatially impossible. He then re-photographed the reworked images and printed them using offset technique. Literature: 1. Butin, H. (2013). Catalogue Raisonné. Gerhard Richter: Editions 1965-2013. Ostfildern-Rui: Hatje Cantz.
