Ilan Hasson's artistic themes are based on Judaikah and influenced by traditional Jewish art and paper crafts such as- Ktubas and Jewish books decorations, especially the Passover's Hagada. Themes from the bible, the Talmud, and the Kabala are painted in a fantastic and colorful way: The Garden of Eden, Creation, The Tree of Life, Jerusalem City of Peace, and The Tower of Babel, are all themes in Ilan Hasson's art.
The Atmosphere of the Mediterranean is emphasized in Ilan Hasson's paintings in the last years. The coloring and the bright light of the Mediterranean are part of Ilan Hasson's art. The unique colors and bright light create a feeling of optimism and happiness. Some of Ilan Hasson's paintings like A view to the Mediterranean resemble Mexican art and Naïve art in colors and in the simplicity of shapes.
The shapes and figures in Ilan's art are inscribed in gold and silver and create a feast of rounded decorative forms. Ilan Hasson works in a variety of techniques; watercolors, gouache, acrylics, and Japanese ink. The paper is an important component of the work. It is handmade paper, which becomes an integral part of the artwork.
