About the Item
This beautiful monotype by Kirsten Stolle (1967-) is a simple, yet elegant composition with beautiful, harmonious colors. There is a wonderful warmth and richness to the surface; various layers of color create a complex, subtle texture. This is an abstract work that would be a pleasure to live with because it is so pleasing to the eye. It measures 13 7/8"” x 8 7/8"” the plate and 26” x 19.75 the sheet. It is on Arches paper. The print is numbered 1/1 in the lower margin left corner and signed and dated “K Stolle 00” in the lower margin right corner, all in pencil. - Untitled #2Located in San Francisco, CAThis artwork "Untitled #2" is a colors monotype on Arches paper by Dutch artist Frans Horbach. It is hand signed and dated in pencil by the artist. The image (plate mark) is 19.5 x 15.5 inches, sheet size is 30 x 22.25 inches. It is in excellent condition, the colors are fresh and bright, has never been framed. About the artist: Born in Holland, Dutch artist Frans Horbach first visited New York when he was 17 years old, traveling on a cargo ship from Rotterdam, just as his fellow country man Willem de Kooning had done years before. Two years later he left Holland and emigrated to California. During the years that he lived and worked as a professional artist in America, one of the main sources of artistic influence came from artists belonging to what is now known as the New York school of American lyrical abstract expressionist art - Rothko, Pollock, De Kooning... He was attracted by their ideas, style of work, and more importantly, by their vital energy and uninhibited self-confidence. Horbach's work also was influenced, more subtely perhaps, by his contact with indigeneous Indian people during his journeys in the American South-West and Mexico. These encounters were a rich source of inspiration - they became integral to a philosophical framework which involved the appreciation of physical space in a poetic and artistic sense. In later years, as the result of his long-time interest in oriental art and philosophy, some of his work show a distinct affinity with the aesthetic sensibilities of traditional Japanse...Category

- "Beach Day '1B'" Mixed Media Abstract with bold blues, copper and gold accentsBy Linda WhittemoreLocated in Laguna Beach, CARich blues and golds are streaked with pearlescent accents that play across this beautiful abstract original work "Beach Day '1 B''" by master print maker Linda Whittemore. This mixed media viscosity monotype displays all of the unique skill and painterly touch of the artist, who draws her inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds her on her home of Maui. This artwork is custom framed and ready to hang and enjoy! Linda works in a printmaking style called viscosity monotype, although she is trained in the traditional form of Intaglio printmaking. Her works are a story of color and mood, She continues to paint scenes around the island of Maui and further abstracts them in her studio using the printmaking process. Often, watercolor plein aire paintings are a prelude to her original monotypes. “It’s all a process, one medium leads to the next. We create from what we know or don’t know. My paintings are who I am.” Linda also has enjoyed painting the figure for many years. Linda began a life long relationship with watercolor painting at the age of eight. She studied two full years with the past president of the Watercolor Society, Roger Armstrong, as well as other teachers like Chris Sullivan, Hiroke Morinue, Richard Nelson...Category
