Original etching signed in pencil and inscribed `a Mola bien amicalement Marcoussis /New York le 26 Mai 1935", aside from the edition of 35 on wove paper, with large margins. 14 3/4 x 11 7/8" Sheet Size, 6 x 3 7/8" Image size. Lafranchis G. 136; Milet 136 Louis Marcoussis began his career as an Impressionist painter, but turned to Cubism after meeting Picasso. He was a gifted artist, who was able to develop his own style apart from those who influenced him like Picasso and Braque. Jean Cassou , a French writer, art critic, and poet called him a ‘representative of the pure form of Cubism’.
