About the Item

Max Bill "Primary Colors" 1971 Silkscreen on paper edition of 2375 "Ein Domberger Siebdruck-Kalender" 11.75"x14" unframed Unsigned Born in Switzerland, Max Bill was an artist widely known for his piece Rhythm In Four Squares (1943), an oil on canvas painting that aimed to explore the new physics of the 20th century, as well as act as a response to the prerequisites of post modernism. Other than working with paint, Bill has experimented with many other mediums including, graphics, granite and architecture, and is regarded as the figure head of the concrete art movement - a movement which over emphasized the use of geometric lines and patterns in order to create abstract art that beard no figurative meaning. Bill has also been credited for popularizing concrete art in Brazil, and starting an artistic revolution in the country. He has been argued to have paved the way for neo concrete artists such as Franz Weissman. In December 1994, Bill suffered a heart attack at the Berlin Tegel Airport, subsequently die on his way to the hospital. Max Bill’s art work continues to bear his legacy to this day. (Artist website)
