About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “I Can’t See Much from Here” is a 14.5 x 11 inch unique print represented on 20 x 16 inch Awagami Bamboo paper embracing both traditional printmaking techniques and inkjet printing. A warm orange hued house is the focal point of this contemporary landscape and is placed in the bottom half of the composition. Layers of ellipses, circles, and fragments of sky in blue, black and white create a textured appearance on the smooth media and serve as an energetic background. The dwelling emerges in the distance as the spontaneous field of shapes surround the simple house. If the viewer looks closely, one the windows may offer a limited view of what’s inside or perhaps, it’s just a reflection. The contrasting graphic pictorial image of the house blends harmoniously with the atmospheric elements. deGrandpre’s extensive catalog of photographs and images are deconstructed and digitally manipulated and become the catalyst of her art making. deGrandpre skillfully creates an amalgam by blending the recognizable with the abstract. Her inkjet printer becomes her printing press as she skillfully combines digital image inkjet transfer with layers of other media including block printing ink. This one of a kind modern landscape is signed and dated on the bottom right corner and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice.
