b. 1955, Elizabeth, NJ Phillip Taaffe’s travels in the Middle East, India, South America, Morocco, and Italy all provided experiences, which deeply shaped his artistic practice. In his works, Taaffe takes the investigated remains of lost cultures and visually reworks the materials in such a way as to speak to our present circumstances. This edition was commissioned by Lincoln Center to commemorate the Great Performers at Lincoln Center series in 1999.
