From the Evolution Series by Thomas Benton, this bold red screenprint resembles an eye with the iris descending down into it. Benton drew upon his career as an architect, the strong influence of Eastern art, and artists such as Mark Rothko and Katsushika Hokusai in the creation of his works. He also incorporated Eastern symbols including calligraphy, sunsets, and spirals.
