About the Item
"Coral Bouquet" is a color etching by Texas artist Lauren Kussro. In the print, an unfurling object reveals clusters of flora and fauna that could be from the sea or land. Pieces of coral, shells, leaves, and flowers are surrounded by tiny bubbles and are intricately rendered in line and tone. For this print, Kussro used one etching plate that she inked in multiple colors then printed it through a press onto paper. The plate size is 7" x 10" and is printed onto a larger piece of paper. The print is signed, titled, and numbered. To view more of Lauren Kussro's prints and for new listings, please follow us at Colibri Gallery.
Kussro attended the Herron School of Art & Design in Indianapolis for her undergraduate studies, earning a BFA in painting and printmaking in 2003. In 2006, she completed her MFA degree in printmaking at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Kussro's work has been shown in various locations around the country, including solo exhibitions at the Nashville International Airport, Twist Gallery, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as group exhibitions at Kai Lin Art in Atlanta, the Dadian Gallery in Washington D.C., and the Manhattan Graphics Center in New York. Her work has also been included in group exhibitions in both India and China. Her creative process is centered in a playful investigation of the natural world and frequently features combinations of printmaking, sculpture and sewing.

- "Leisure Pool 1" - Woodcut Print of Swimming Pool Backyard Aerial View in BlueBy Kristen MartincicLocated in Morgan Hill, CA"Leisure Pool 1" is a multilayered woodcut print by Missouri artist Kristen Martincic. This print is part of a series that was inspired by backyard pool shapes and the aerial view that the artist saw as she flew over a Dallas / Fort Worth neighborhood. The pool is printed in several layers of turquoise ink which reveal translucent steps at the entrance of the pool and a richer color as the pool deepens. A glossy white border surrounds the pool providing a contrast to the texture and color of the print. A subtle wood-grain pattern has been transferred from the wood printing block onto a cream-colored gampi paper. The print has several tiny brown flecks which are inclusions from the papermaking process. This print is part of a series of 4 prints (see last photo).
