About the Item
Originally from Dorset, Shelley moved to Somerset 17 years ago after starting her design career in London. She studied a Bachelor of Honours Arts Degree in Graphic Design at Exeter College of Art and Design. Since then she has worked in the design industry for more than 20 years for clients such as Yo! Sushi, Usborne, Audi, Porsche and Lloyds.
After her father died, she discovered his old carving tools, some of which were for lino. Using them, she began to experiment with cuts and mark making, being self taught in this craft.
All of her prints are handmade, making each piece totally unique. She only produces a small number of original prints and uses a block method as it allows for more experimentation.
Shelley is fast becoming one of the new and exciting emerging artists of her craft in recent years.

Shelley Dyer-Gibbins
Living in Somerset and originally trained as a graphic designer, Shelley worked in London, Bristol and Bath for over 20 years. She’s now an artist and printmaker, mainly specialising in linocut printmaking as well as an “artist in schools’ throughout the southwest of England, teaching and lecturing printmaking. Being self taught she produced 'Magpies' which was sold to The Atkinson Gallery for their private Collection in 2017. Shortly afterwards, she won the 21st NOA's Original Print Prize with Cinegirl. The biggest open Art Competition in the UK with over 4000 entrants. The winning entry was exhibited at The Bargehouse, Oxo Tower, Wharf and as a grand finale, exhibited at the critically acclaimed Pallant House Gallery, home to one of the best collections of Modern British Art in the UK. The NOA was a platform to help boost her creative career and in doing so, she has gained awards, various solo and combined shows. She has recently exhibited at the Bankside Gallery, London as part of the NOPE (National Open Print Exhibition) and part of UPFEST 2020, the street art and graffiti Festival in Bristol (within the heartland of Banksy). “Art provokes emotions within people, that’s the whole point. When I’m creating it provokes an emotion and a feeling during the process. People see my pieces and go “That’s me” They find a connection, they find their story with it”.
