About the Item

Daniel Arsham Eroded Classical Prints Screenprint w/ Graphite inks Printed on Archival 100% Cotton Paper Transparent Holographic Seal of Authenticity on COA card Signed & Numbered Edition of 99 This Rare Special Edition is the First time Daniel Arsham has created any kind of Print Edition. ERODED CLASSICAL PRINTS is a set of three silkscreened prints reproducing Daniel Arsham’s preparatory drawings for eroded sculptural works. Each 18” x 24” print, was created with 8 individual screens on Archival 100% cotton paper by the famed Brand X Editions in New York City. Founded in 1979, Brand X has worked with an esteemed roster of artists such as Alex Katz, Rashid Johnson, and Jenny Holzer, among others. Arsham worked with Brand X on a special process that includes graphite in the ink which perfectly reproduces the quality and depth of his original drawings. Produced in a limited edition of 99, ERODED CLASSICAL PRINTS come collated in a custom Arsham Studio designed linen portfolio, alongside three enamel name plates for each print, respectively. The embedded history of these visually iconic sculptures, in conversation with the fictional narrative of Future Relics, further perpetuate a reconsideration of time. Each Edition comes complete with a pair of embroidered Arsham Editions art handling gloves intended to be worn at all times when handling the works. Each print is hand-signed and numbered by the artist and authenticated by a transparent holographic seal of authenticity on the included COA card. Daniel Arsham employs elements of architecture, performance, and sculpture to manipulate and distort understandings of structures and space. Arsham became widely known at the age of 25 when he was asked to design his first of several sets for Merce Cunningham’s productions. His practice has been guided by a curiosity for architecture and structured space, stemming from childhood memories of seeing the wreckage of Hurricane Andrew in his hometown of Miami. Some of his best-known works include a series of installations that destabilize the solidity of gallery walls, such that they appear to be dripping, folding, oozing, or absorbing furniture; also figuring among his oeuvre are pixelated clouds based on photographs and rendered with hand-colored spheres, and sculptures made from granulated materials like crushed glass. He is also active as one half of the art and architecture collaborative Snarkitecture, along with Alex Mustonen.
