Charles Pachter
Side by Side

2001

About the Item

Charles Pachter's iconic and celebrated series the Painter Flag was created in the early 1980's. For nearly forty years it has been one of his most sought-after creations and hangs in important commercial and public institutions across the country. In 2001, shortly after the tragedy of 9/11 Pachter created this special lithograph both honoring the fallen and celebrating Canada and the United States' friendship. Like the best of Pachter's work "Side by Side" has an optimism, simplicity and style that is inimitable. While Pachter’s work shares some characteristics with Jim Dine, David Hockney and even Andy Warhol, his aesthetic is resoundingly charming, singular, and uniquely Canadian. Nowhere is this more apparent than in "Side by Side". Questions about this artwork? Contact us. Signed and numbered by the artist Lithograph Canada, 2001 26"H 32"W (work) Very good condition

  • Dutch Hearts
    By Jim Dine
    Located in Toronto, Ontario
Jim Dine was one of the key artists that defined American Pop Art in the 1960s. Like Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol, Dine appropriated quintessential American images and icons. He used ubiquitous and familiar forms, like tools, food, and stylized clothing, as the basis for bold and colorful compositions inspired by Dada assemblage, Abstract Expressionism, and collage techniques. The "Heart" is the most celebrated icon in Dine's oeuvre. He uses its motif to explore pattern, color, and texture in both two-dimensions and sculpture. This is a classic and iconic example of Jim Dine's hearts from his most sought-after period. Questions about this piece? Contact us. "Dutch Hearts...
