Beautiful satiric illustration by the French draftsman Paul Gavarni (alias Guillaume Sulpice Chevalier, 1804- 1866). Plate 2, from the series Les Étudians de Paris, Bauger, Paris, 1847, Imp. d'Aubert and Cie. Signed on plate on lower-right.
With the printed capture: "Ma chère, comment peux tu sopporter un homme qui pipe toute la journee dans des horreurs de machine comme ça?//Prends garde! ça va te manger....Eh! b'en ma petite j'ètais comme toi, avant: Rien qu'un cigarre...ça me mettait dans tous mes ètats; mais depuis que je connais Henri, ah! bien....à présent je suis culottée, vois-tu? ".
In good condition, with some visible foxings on margins. Including passepartput, dim: cm 49 x 34.
