Ariadne represented a tragic heroine figure in all the different versions of her myth. Therefore we can also understand that she was suffering from a terrible dilemma, namely between her wish for happiness and the obligation to obey to a divine command. Due to this internal fight, she felt a great sorrow and suffered death in so many different ways. With her influence over the islands we can relate her personage to the Cretan goddess Britomartis. In some parts of her myths, there is clear evidence that she is closely associated to the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Finally, Ariadne's cult was performed in different ways on various places and consisted of Cretan features mixed with some local rituals as well as with some orgiastic aspects, used during the celebrations of Dionysus.
Will Barnet was born in Beverly, Massachusetts, and studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and then at the Art Students League in New York. He later taught art at such leading American schools as Yale University, Cornell University, and the Art Students League. A prolific graphic artist, Barnet changed his style significantly at different points in his career. His earliest works were influenced by expressionism; they were followed by abstract works in the 1950s and 1960s, and finally evolved into more figurative works of silhouetted forms set against geometrically designed backgrounds. Barnet has worked in most print media and is recognized for his command of all techniques. His work has been exhibited in prominent museums and galleries in the United States and Canada and is included in many prestigious collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Will Barnet
At the beginning of his career, Will Barnet was known for his figural depictions of domestic scenes. But, as he continued to stylistically develop, Barnet arrived at abstract geometric paintings far removed from his original career. A part of the Indian Space Painters group, Barnet was inspired by Native American art in creating these divergent images. Throughout his career, Barnet oscillated between representational and abstract paintings, never fully settling on one. He has received the National Medal of Arts in 2011, and his work has been displayed at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

- Casino, 1972By LeRoy NeimanLocated in Rochester Hills, MIArtist: LeRoy Neiman (American, 1921-2012) Title: Casino Year: 1972 Medium: Silkscreen, signed and marked A P ( Artist Proof) in pencil Edition: AP Paper Size: 31¾ x 26 inches LeRoy Neiman was a sports artist, a chronicler of contemporary lifestyles and a creator of the action-subject. He is credited with reviving figure painting during the years of the abstract movement when the figure, and realism in general, were abandoned. Neiman paints with a technique that often starts with his own Impressionistic style and continues with a process that looks very similar to the action paintings of the Abstract Expressionists. Accident and chance seem to play significant roles in determining the final appearance of his creations. This is seen in Neimans spontaneous application of paint and color. He paints quickly to grasp moments in time. His works are held in the collections of both the Baseball...Category
