Two Figures on the Shore - Minimalist Landscape Drypoint Etching in Ink on Paper

1980s

About the Item

Two Figures on the Shore - Minimalist Landscape Drypoint Etching in Ink on Paper Minimalist landscape with two figures walking along the shore by Doris Ann Warner (American, 1925-2010). Two people are depicted with a series of horizontal lines at the edge of the water. The water is represented with just two lines - one for the coast and another for the horizon. The sky has only a single line in it. Unsigned, but was acquired with a collection of the artist's work. Presented in a new grey mat with foamcore backing. Mat size: 12"H x 17"W Paper size: 8.25"H x 13.5"W Doris Ann Warner began as an Abstract Expressionist painter, but was primarily known for stone carving as well as abstract female figures, which emphasized body movement through rhythmic flow of mass and line. Warner studied at the University of California Santa Cruz as well as Pietrasanta, Italy, with Professor Pasquale Martini in 1988.
