From Greenwich Park II is a limited edition hand pulled screen print with gold leaf finished with pen and ink and printed on archival museum board by Jayson Lilley.
Lilley’s work is known for its urban and architectural focus, zooming in on familiar landmarks and reproducing iconic vistas and structures from the metropolis. His innovative printmaking practice combines silkscreen, painting and collage techniques to construct vibrant scenes that are always accompanied by expansive skies and which play on salience and colour. Lilley’s most recent collection explores some of London’s more natural vistas, as he contemplates the relationship between nature and the urban landscape. In these pieces, he combines silkscreen print with copper leaf and hand drawing to dramatic effect.

Jayson Lilley
Jayson Lilley is a British Printmaker. His artistic approach showcases his expertise at the forefront of printmaking practices, where he skillfully combines painting and collage techniques to create prints that are distinct and unique from one another. This fusion of methods adds an element of unpredictability and creativity to his creations. Fueled by a deep passion for urban landscapes, Lilley’s artwork prominently centers on architecture. His focus involves capturing the essence of well-known landmarks and iconic structures within bustling cities. This deliberate attention to architectural details allows him to craft dynamic scenes that resonate with viewers who might recognize and connect with these familiar urban elements. One of Lilley’s distinctive techniques involves placing these vibrant architectural scenes against expansive skies. To accomplish this, he employs the use of large areas of gold, copper, or silver leaf. These metallic backdrops not only add a touch of opulence and visual interest but also create a striking contrast between the architectural forms and the open skies, reinforcing the idea of urban life coexisting with nature. By integrating painting, collage, and printmaking in innovative ways and by capturing the interplay between iconic structures and vast skies through the use of metallic leaf, Jayson Lilley’s work appears to offer a fresh perspective on urban landscapes while showcasing his technical mastery and creative vision.
