Bradford, Katherine (American, born 1942) STEAMBOAT SUITE PORTFOLIO WITH AN EXTRA MONOTYPE ADDED, 2013. Edition of 10, plus 7 Artist's Proofs and Collaborators copies. Of the edition of 10, only 5 were produced as suites in a portfolio; the others were marketed as individual prints. Seven etchings in color, each signed and numbered "1/10" and also signed by the artist, and numbered "1/10" on the Justification page. Cloth clamshell box, with seven etchings printed by Sue Oehme at Oehme Graphics, Steamboat Springs, CO. from Solar and Collagraph plates. In addition, this copy contains a monoprint version of "Steamboat Emerald," one of the plates in the suite, titled, numbered "1/1" and signed in pencil. The portfolio measures 18 5/8 x 16 5/8 inches, and the sheets are 18 x 16 inches. In excellent condition.

Katherine Bradford
Born in 1942, Katherine Bradford is only now receiving due recognition. She unapologetically blazed her own path in the art world, painting daily, and building a community of like-minded artists in both Maine and New York. She is at a pivotal moment in her career, creating some of her most thought-provoking paintings and exploring her biography as an artist, woman, mother, and lesbian. Bradford, who splits her time between New York and Maine, is aware of Maine's long lineage of nautical painting and builds upon the legacies of Marsden Hartley and John Marin, among others, yet her works transform the genre of marine painting into densely packed, metaphorical realms.
