Roland Guignand
Original 'Aarau Ladet Ein' vintage Swiss travel poster

1957

About the Item

Original poster. Linen-backed original Swiss poster "AARAU LADET EIN" An old travel poster with a modern flair to visit Aarau. It has a beautiful array of colors and is printed, like most things Swiss. Linen backed and ready to frame. Good condition. The "Aarau Ladet Ein" vintage Swiss travel poster is an original piece of art created by Roland Guignand in 1957. This poster was designed to promote travel to the beautiful city of Aarau, Switzerland. With its mid-century modern feel and abstract depiction of the city's buildings, this poster is a true collector's item. The darker blue background adds a touch of sophistication, making the cityscape look eye-catching. Perfect for anyone who loves vintage travel posters or wants to add a unique piece of art to their collection, the "Aarau Ladet Ein" poster will make a statement in any space. This is also one of the few larger-size travel posters. Aarau is the capital of the northern Swiss canton of Aargau. The old city of Aarau is situated on a rocky outcrop at a narrowing of the Aar River valley at the southern foot of the Jura mountains. Origin of the name The earliest use of the place name was in 1248 (in the form Arowe), and probably referred to the settlement in the area before the city's founding. It comes, along with the name of the River Aar (which was called Arula, Arola, and Araris in early times), from the German Au, meaning floodplain. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. Light wear along the edges mostly on the bottom of the poster.
