This hand crafted Giclee print on canvas, 'Afternoon', by Vasily Golubev, provides the opportunity to own and enjoy a Golubev masterpiece at a very affordable price.
Beautifully textured with a clear gesso finish following Golubev’s distinctive brushwork, this reproduction was exclusively authorized by the artists' estate and is currently available only on 1stDibs.
"We feel here the bombast of the demiurge, a would-be creator, albeit somewhat naïve and simple: Golubev is not simply painting nature but, as it were, competing with her in the creation of form. In works of the Expressionist trend there are undoubted victories, above all in the plasticity, the molding and formation of the painted surface, as captured in Golubev's action - dynamic, tense with energy, preserving - to use Yuri Tynyanov's term - "rude strength". -

From 1995 until 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea (at which time cultural exchange largely came to an end) the Pushkin Gallery collected exceptional works from the period of postwar Soviet Union.

In 2000, the Pushkin Gallery moved to a 300-year-old restored hacienda in the world-renowned art center of Santa Fe, New Mexico, where the unique gallery became a must-see destination for art lovers.
Visitors commented that the Pushkin Gallery was like a museum. "Perhaps, it's because we disseminate knowledge," remarked Kenneth. With best-of-class curation and gallery practices, Pushkin Gallery became one of the most recognized purveyors of Russian art in the U.S.
Since the inception of the Pushkin Gallery, 30 years ago, many of the most important and beautiful paintings have been retained in a privately held collection and never shown publicly. Now for the first time, these reserved paintings are being selectively published as Giclee prints.
