Original antique political election propaganda poster - Wake Up! Vote for the Unionist and a Reformed Second Chamber - featuring an illustration of John Bull wearing a waistcoat with a Union Jack flag on it, sitting relaxed on a wooden chair marked British Constitution being lifted to topple over a cliff edge by a lever marked Radical Veto Plot on a brick for support marked Socialist Vote with a man pulling down on the lever with a money bag at the end as a weight marked 200,000 American Dollars on it. A satirical character that was first used in 1712, John Bull is a personification of the British public. Published by the National Union of Conservative and Constitutional Associations, St Stephens Chambers, Westminster SW. Printed by Sir Joseph Causton & Sons Limited, 9 Eastcheap, London. Horizontal. Good condition, restored paper losses, restored tears, staining, backed on linen.
