Original vintage Czechoslovak propaganda poster - Za Vlast Za Socialism! / For Motherland For Socialism - featuring dynamic artwork of a soldier in uniform and armed with a rifle gun standing guard in front of the gold title text and silver Bohemian Lion with two tails inside a star outline on a red banner flag with decorative gold tassel edges, the Czechoslovakian flag flying in front of the National Monument dedicated to Jan Zizka in the background, the quote in red text below by the Czech communist politician Antonin Zapotocky (1884-1957) reads: "The Gottwald way to ensure the safety and happy life of our people! Forward for the fulfillment of military oaths!" The National Liberation Monument at the top of Vitkov Hill in Prague was built from 1928-1938 to commemorate the 1420 Battle of Vitkov Hill (part of the Hussite Wars civil war 1419-1434); the equestrian statue by the Czech sculptor Bohumil Kafka (1878-1942) depicting the Czech general and national hero Jan Zizka z Trocnova a Kalicha (1360-1424) on a horse in front of the building was unveiled in 1950. Good condition, folds, creasing, small tears, minor staining.
