Original vintage Soviet propaganda poster featuring an illustration of a smiling man with a jacket over his shoulder and two children walking with him, a boy with a tennis racket and a girl with a ball ready for sport activities, in front of a large clock face with the hour hand at four o'clock and a classic car and people in front of a Дом Культуры / House of Culture community centre in the background, the text on the clock and below reads - The transfer of all workers and employees to a six-seven hour working day will be completed in 1960 Our working day will be the shortest in the world / В 1960 году будет завершен перевод всех рабочих и служащих на шести-семичасовой рабочий день. The idea of a six-hour working day was first introduced by Vladimir Lenin in 1919 and partially accomplished in the 1930s; it was postponed in the 1940s due to war preparations and onset of the World War Two and re-introduced in the 1950s by Joseph Stalin before being abandoned in the late 1960s for a normal five working day week with two rest days.
