Printed using hand drawn lithographic plates on archival heavy weight Coventry printmaking paper, 100% acid free. Edition was produced in accordance with the Picasso family under the supervision of Marcel Salinas, master chromist who worked closely with Pablo Picasso during his lifetime. Bears the estate approved printed signature of Picasso on center lower margin. Lithograph is in excellent condition, never been framed or mounted. PORTRAIT DE FEMME AU CHAPEAU A LA ROBE JAUNE portrays an abstract portrait of a seated woman dressed in a yellow dress and matching yellow hat. Her serious facial expression and eyes looking directly out at the viewer combined with an eye-catching color combination of red, pale pink, grays, yellow and capture our undivided attention.

YELLOW PERSONAGE is a playful, wild abstract portrait by Appel, one of the founders of the avant-garde art movement CoBrA active during the late 1940's thru early 1950's. His paintings are known for incorporating applications of vibrant, violent colors often possessing a primal, childlike quality. He was also a noted sculptor and graphic artist. Appel attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Amsterdam (1940–43), and helped found the “Reflex” group, which became known as CoBRA (for Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam), in 1948. He moved to Paris in 1950 and by the 1960s had settled in New York City; he later lived in Italy and Switzerland.
