Original travel poster: Visitate l'Esposizione Coloniale A smiling dusky maiden who looks just like Josephine Baker, pushes aside a blue curtain to reveal the splendors of her native land. Unabashedly, she represents the French colonies being honored at this Parisian international exposition. Dransy was a pseudonym for artist Jules Isnard. Printed by Vercasson, Paris. Italian text. She is inviting Italians to come and visit Paris in 1931 and attend the exhibition. During this time, Josephine Baker was among the most celebrated performers to headline the revues of the Folies Bergère in Paris. (She was the first black woman to star in a major motion picture, the 1927 silent film Siren of the Tropics.) Josephine Baker's name does not appear on this poster but because of her fame during this time frame. This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
