Original “VILLA RIDES!”, US 1 sheet, 1969 original movie poster—art of Yul Brynner as Pancho & Robert Mitchum, Sam Peckinpah.
Starring Yul Brynner as Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa and Robert Mitchum as an American adventurer and pilot of fortune. The screenplay is based on the biography by William Douglas Lansford. The supporting cast includes Charles Bronson as Fierro, Herbert Lom as Huerta, and Alexander Knox as Madero. The film was shot in Spain, and the battle sequences were very well staged. They are the best part of Villa Rides. Villa was assassinated in 1923, but his legacy is celebrated today for his work as a revolutionary hero, fighting for democracy, populism, and social justice for the Mexican people during the Mexican Revolution.
