About the Item
Mounted in a black wood frame with a 1/2 inch face and 1 1/2 inch depth. On the back is labeled 11 of 20 with the artist's name and date. Published by Benefit Print Project. Printed by Griffin Editions. Printed onto aluminum using dye-sublimation technology. This leading-edge process is made entirely possible by new advances in printing. Because the dyes are transferred directly into the metal surface of every photograph, the immediacy of the technique adds a distinctive physicality to the artist's exceptional photography, which has, for the past several years, explored the complex relationship between the physical state and the psychological one. Gesture and expression are examined in literal and metaphoric terms. There is contradiction in spite of directness, and a multiplicity of powerful implications is sensitively proposed.

Shirin Neshat
Shirin Neshat, born on March 26, 1957, in Qazvin, Iran, is a pioneering artist whose work transcends cultural, political, and artistic boundaries. Raised amidst the turbulence of the Iranian Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War, Neshat's experiences deeply influenced her exploration of identity, gender, and power in her art. Her iconic works often feature veiled women juxtaposed with symbols of defiance, challenging stereotypes and advocating for social change. Despite facing censorship and criticism, Neshat remains steadfast in her commitment to using art as a tool for commentary. Through her photography, films, and installations, she invites viewers to engage with the complexities of the human experience, reflecting on themes of exile, displacement, and the universal struggle for freedom and self-expression. Shirin Neshat's journey from a young woman navigating revolution to an internationally renowned artist is a testament to resilience, creativity, and the enduring pursuit of truth.

- Bruni vs Sarkosy, After ComteBy Alex Guofeng CaoLocated in New York, NYIn a captivating new collection, Alex Guofeng Cao dazzles audiences with his unique twist on instantly recognizable images. Inspired by history and pop culture, Cao manipulates one iconic image to create another in his extraordinary large-scale works. From a distance, the pieces appear to be a singular image but as the viewer approaches closer, you find each work is a masterfully crafted compilation of minute detailed images layered next to one another, creating a mesmerizing and hypnotic optical illusion. Cao meticulously places each smaller image to form a dynamic gradient from dark to light which tricks the eye into seeing one image. This expertise in contrast is exemplified in all of his works, from striking black and white pieces to stunning explorations in high-definition color. He cleverly mirrors this visual contrast in his subject matter by subverting the main image and creating a dialogue between the macrocosm and microcosm.
