William Ross Abrams, 'The Green Sugarbowl', color woodcut, 1949, edition 24. Signed, titled, dated, and annotated 'Artist’s proof' in pencil. A fine, richly-inked, painterly impression, with fresh, vivid colors, on fibrous cream wove Japan paper, with margins (1 1/2 to 2 1/8 inches). Minor surface soiling in the margins, not affecting the image, otherwise in very good condition. Image size 11 3/8 x 13 1/8 inches (289 x 333 mm); sheet size 14 x 16 3/4 (356 x 425 mm). Matted to museum standards, unframed.
Provenance: Estate of Milton Goldstein.
Other impressions of this work are held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
