About the Item

Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden presented the first solo exhibition in the United States of sculpture and works on paper by Italian artist ALEX CORNO in 2015. In his studio near Milan, Corno creates abstract forms using welded iron and stainless steel. His bold yet lyrical mastery of form caught our attention when we were first introduced to Corno by the 240-page monograph published on his work in 2013. He achieves a sense of poetry in his use of proportion, rhythm, color, texture, and the dance between negative and positive spaces. Casting sentimentality aside, Corno is relentlessly inquisitive about seeking dynamic relationships within the formal language of sculpture. This sculpture is illustrated in the 72-page exhibition catalogue published on the occasion of the inaugural US exhibition "Alex Corno: Works, Milano-Dallas," October 10 - November 7, 2015, at Valley House Gallery. Alex Corno was interviewed about this exhibition in webisode 23 on October 18, 2015, as seen on moderndallas

He uses the formal language of materials and space: opposing thin arcs, rods, and loops with weighty rectilinear forms to achieve a dynamic balance. Corno welds his iron and stainless steel sculptures in a diverse range of scales, from small interior works to monumental garden...
