Annalù
Dreamcatcher Red Sky 60 cm

2022

About the Item

Lenticular - Holographic framed artwork. Italian artist Annalù Boretto's dreamy sculptures enchant onlookers with hyper-realistic water splashes and brilliant colors. Born in Venice in 1976, the artist worked for years to develop her style of resinglass sculpture that evokes an imaginative journey by using intricately placed natural elements suspended in time. Focusing on texture and illusion, Annalù undoubtedly incorporates her life on the lagoon into her works. For several years, her captivating pieces have been developing an international following. A disciple of metamorphosis, intent on penetrating the mysteries of creation, Annalù assembles incongruous elements such as resins and paper, bark and glass wool, bitumen and sand, cement and roots, to create new realities - worlds suspended and imaginary architecture where alchemy is lightness. Her work features intensely lyrical and evocative attributes with exalted symbolic allure. For several years she has been developing a graphic / paint, sculpture and installation work in Italy and abroad. She belongs to that species of artists for whom dominating matter, chemical, physical substances, is part of a wider exploring process, which no doubt involves art, but also the less palpable dimensions of the soul. In her works is a feeling of metamorphosis, of transition, evolution conceived as a journey between different conditions, diverse realities, a spirit of quest sharing some features typical of alchemic science. The Artist is a disciple of metamorphosis, intent on penetrating the mysteries of creation, able to assemble incongruous elements such as resins and paper, bark and glass wool, bitumen and sand, cement and roots, in order to create new realities, worlds suspended where alchemy is lightness. Annalủ, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice (1999), lives and works in her “palafitte” home by the river Piave in Passarella di San Donà di Piave, Venice. Since 2001 her works have been shown in numerous personal and collective exhibits in Italy and abroad. Annalủ’s works have been shown in a number of Italian and foreign museums, and can be found in public and private collections in Italy and abroad.

  • Miniature Balance with Painted Pearl White Cap and Green Suit
    By Carole A. Feuerman
    Located in Miami, FL
This work is part of a variant edition. More photos/videos upon request. Artist's biography: Carole A. Feuerman (born 1945) is an American sculptor and author working in Hyperrealism. She is one of the three major artists credited with starting the movement in the late 1970s. She is the only woman to sculpt in this style. Her career is highlighted by iconic figurative works of swimmers and dancers. She has been included in exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery; the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia; the Venice Biennale; and Palazzo Strozzi Palace in Florence, Italy, among others. Growing up in New York, Feuerman was deterred from being an artist. She attended Hofstra University, Temple University, and graduated from the school of Visual Arts in New York City to begin her career as an illustrator. During the early 1970s she went by the artist’s name Carole Jean, illustrating for The New York Times and creating album covers for Alice Cooper and the Rolling Stones. In 1981, Feuerman was chosen by a jury at the Heckscher Museum in Long Island where she exhibited. After this she was invited to participate in the ‘Learning through the Arts Program’ at the Guggenheim Museum. Feuerman received the Charles D. Murphy Sculpture Award in 1981. In 1982 she received the Amelia Peabody Award for sculpture. In 2016, she received Best in Show Award for her sculpture ‘Mona Lisa’ by the Huan Tai Museum. The sculpture was acquired for their permanent collection. Feuerman has also been awarded the Medici Prize by the City of Florence, First Prize at the Beijing Biennale, and the Austrian Biennale, and in 2008 she received First Prize in the Olympic Fine Art exhibition in Beijing. The piece was acquired by the Olympic Museum. She has taught, lectured, and given workshops at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon Guggenheim Museum. In 2011, she founded the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation. Her artworks are owned by eighteen museums, as well as in the collections of the City of Peekskill, New York, the City of Sunnyvale California, President and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, Dr. Henry Kissinger, the Mikhail Gorbachev Art Foundation, Mr. Steven A. Cohen, Alexandre Grendene Bartelle, and the Malcolm Forbes Magazine Collection...

  • "MIDNIGHT BLUE", sculpture, clay, relief, abstract, contemporary, ceramic
    By Harold Wortsman
    Located in Toronto, Ontario
Midnight Blue, a ceramic relief sculpture of high-fired porcelain pigmented with oxides, paint and epoxy, is a recent work by New York artist Harold Wortsman. This sculpture is ready to be mounted to the wall. Note the artist's hand in the mark-making – cuts and radiating lines, the suggestion of maps, geometry and counting systems – it is characteristic of Wortsman's practice. Warm, contemporary, uniquely crafted, yet speaks to ancient, tribal traditions of art-making that cross cultures and histories. Highly attuned to the art of Africa, the Middle East, India and Asia, his forms are organic abstracts with masculine and feminine attributes that resonate together as a pleasing enigma. They make sense immediately, yet never give up all their secrets. Midnight Blue was recently exhibited at Harold Wortsman: Time and Space, Orange Art Foundation, New York City, February 2022. From Harold Wortsman – "With sculpture, my material of choice is high-fired clay. Pieces are first low-fired in an electric kiln. I do not use glazes. Instead, I use oxides applied to the bisqued (low-fired) clay. As with a tattoo, oxides permit the surface underneath to breathe—like naked skin. The work is then high-fired in a gas kiln with double reduction to cone 10. The final temperature is 2,300 degrees F. At a certain point, oxygen intake is reduced to the kiln. Because the fire has reached a critical mass, it needs oxygen and chemically takes it from the clay and the oxides painted on. Like a jazz improvisation, each kiln load comes out slightly different." From Jonathan Goodman – "Wortsman has increasingly moved into his own – a place in which the relations between the abstractions of volume and the intimations of very old culture are merged in a way that is new." – Essay, "Harold Wortsman: Time and Space", Orange Art Foundation, February 2022, New York City. Harold Wortsman is a sculptor and printmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. He “creates forms that bring to mind archaic cult objects and exude a quiet concentrated strength.” (Argauer Zeitung, Switzerland). His work, an edgy mix of freedom and clarity, can be found in public and private collections in the US, including The Library of Congress, Yale University, The New York Public Library Print Collection, The New York Historical Society, Smith College, Indiana University’s Lilly Library, Brandeis University, The Newark Public Library Special Collections Division, and the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum Print Archive. Also in private and public collections in Europe, including the Municipal Collection of the City of Brugg, Switzerland. Harold studied at the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, with sculptor George Spaventa...
