About the Item
Chromatic Pathways . 2021 Mixed media on Plexiglass, hand sculptured
The colorful set is composed of three wall sculptures made by plexiglass. The mix of colors combined with geometry, curves, and graffiti vibe creates three unique sculptures that will enhance any place. The art pieces are very light pieces and very easy and simple to hang up. The total size of the installation will change depends on the set up. The wall sculptures are sculpted by hand using heat as a method to make the plexiglass moldable.
Size:
.40H x 24W x 6D
.24H x 20W x 6D
.16H x 16W x 6D
It can be hung in different ways. It is very simple to install, since each sculpture has a wire in the back that allows it to be installed in different ways and make the art piece very dynamic.
My work combines aspects of architecture, my hometown of Buenos Aires, the urban environment, bright graffiti colors, and a duality of structure with chaos. The engines of my art are spontaneous and then, complemented with technology to see how to materialize and innovate. Curves, illusory perspectives, geometry, and urban symbols are among some of the tools I use in making my work.
Sculpting with three-dimensional materials, I create waves and feelings of the organic while also referencing the architectural world through the use of geometry. I am inspired by the architectural masters Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry and this shows in my work through the connection of quickness with thoughtfulness, spontaneity with great planning.

Cari Cohen
Cari Cohen was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is currently based in North Miami Beach where she makes work that borders two and three dimensions. Inspired by architectural masters Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry, Cohen’s visual language shares hard-edged lines with curves, inserting the organic into the angular square and breaking the rational towards the new and fantastic. Current projects have been shown at Miami Dade College where she presented her two distinct Series: Art + Light on pure Geometry and Art + Light on Organic evolving, and in 2019 she showed her new work with Art Santa Fe, NM, by Contemporary Art Projects USA. She has largely shown her work at Art Fairs and galleries such as the Wit Gallery, Lenox, MA and has also shown in private and public institutions including Citibank where she had artworks on display at the Aventura and Bal Harbour branches. Cohen received a degree in Architecture from the University of Buenos Aires, also specializing in multimedia design and photography through which she established her own Design firm in architecture and interior design in Buenos Aires, creating projects for international companies. Then in 2001, she relocated to the USA where she completed coursework in painting at Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University, also studying techniques for working with metals. - "Maybe", abstract sculpture, wood, paint, geometry, circle, kiss, gravity, flowLocated in Toronto, Ontario"Maybe" is an abstract artwork by Stan Olthuis composed of acrylic paint on polystyrene mounted in a painted wood frame. Maybe measures 26" high by 30" wide by 2.5" deep. Typical of the artist, this minimal geometric abstraction resonates with a rich charge. It's a sculpture and a painting. The circles, the discs, almost touch but not quite. The artist's obsession with geometry and shapes in proximity is a clear gesture here. The eye delights in the formal play of shape and color, while the mind engages the material force of the wood and paint. From Stan Olthuis – "My work has always involved tactility and expressionistic energy. I visualize the story and imagery simultaneously, allowing the work to surprise me and come to life as I work. I am almost careless in how I use color and texture, facing the fear of improvising on-the-fly. I like to leave the obvious raw record of the process visible, but I believe a mystery remains." Stan Olthuis looks for expressive opportunities in found and harvested raw material – wood, stone, metal, rubber – and brings a fabricator's expertise to the work of making minimalist, joyful sculptures. Geometry is key, as are a sense of play and an adept's feel for sacred energies. His work is exhibited and collected internationally, including private and corporate commissions in Canada, United States, France, Japan and Norway. Stan is represented by Gagné Contemporary in Toronto and New York City, and has select works available through the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), and Motokawa Gallery in Japan. Stan Olthuis' formal education began in Chicago with Henk Krijger, the celebrated master printmaker, type designer, painter and sculptor. Back in Toronto, Olthuis graduated (with distinction) with a degree in Experimental Arts at Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD), studying under artists Fred Hagen, Tom Hodgson...Category
