Émile Gilioli
French sculptor Émile Gilioli crafted each piece to polished perfection. His smooth marble and bronze abstract sculptures feature reflective surfaces, graceful curves and sudden, sharp lines and angles. And while Gilioli was obsessed with refinement in his three-dimensional work, his abstract prints and watercolors reveal a looser, more expressive approach. No matter the chosen medium, his inner artist always shone through.
Gilioli was born in 1911 to a family of Italian shoemakers living in Paris. When he was three years old, his family moved back to Italy and settled in Mantua, where young Gilioli was eventually employed at the local forge. After World War I, his family moved back to France and Gilioli attended the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs and Beaux-Arts de Paris. He started working as a sculpture craftsman at 17 years old, and at 19, he joined the studio of Jean Boucher.
During World War II, Gilioli was stationed in Grenoble. There, he spent time at the Musée de Grenoble and was introduced to Cubism. Upon his return to Paris in 1945, he became one of the key figures in the city's burgeoning abstractionist movement. That same year, he held his first exhibition in Grenoble and also showed at two salons in Paris, in 1947 and ’49.
Gilioli eventually settled in the commune of Saint-Martin-de-la-Cluze, where he opened a sculpture atelier. Throughout the 1950s, he continued to pave the way for abstract sculpture in the country, frequently exhibiting with artists like Alicia Penalba, François Stahly and Étienne Martin. Throughout his long career, Gilioli designed many large sculptures for public spaces.
In 1997, to mark the 20-year anniversary of his death, the commune of Saint-Martin-de-la-Cluze purchased his workshop and home, turning the property into a museum to permanently display his creations.
Gilioli's sculptures and works on paper are held in museums in France and around the world, including the Musée de Grenoble, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Tate Gallery in London, the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

- La Petite Semeuse [The Little Sower]Located in New York, NYPollès The Little Sower La Petite Semeuse 2010 Bronze 14 x 8 x 8 in, 36 x 21 x 19 cm\ Edition 1/4 In continuity to the tradition of Greek sculpture, Pollès's works lie between Brancusi’s purity, Henry Moore’s figurative abstraction and Modigliani’s flowing siluets and forms. Considered as the inventor of the “Organic Cubism”, Pollès is immediately identifiable through this distant reminiscence of Picasso’s Cubism, mixed with great sensitivity and voluptuousness that characterize his subjects. His personal vision of beings in motion, his sculptures with extraordinary patinas, break the pure aesthetic and create a new, very intimate, mythology. Pollès has been in collaboration with the Boccara gallery...Category

Other sizes and patina finishes are also available by commission, please inquire for more details. Pisapia's "Expedition Series," inspired by sea voyages, is about meeting life’s challenges with courage and purpose. It connects to the idea expressed by J.W. Goethe: “Character is formed in the stormy billows of the world.” Taking up life’s tasks can require one to go against the wind. The feeling of determination to achieve and continue steering through obstacles is poured into the pure forms; a dynamic balancing of the straight and curve on different axes. "With a rounded starting point," Pisapia explains, "I add on a variety of disparate angles, diverse curves, and twisting planes. I carve and smooth the surfaces, bringing out particular tensions and transitions." Flavius Valone Pisapia is an Italian-Romanian artist born in Bucharest in 1981. He completed his higher education in the UK, with an MA in Transpersonal Arts & Therapy, 2014; a Diploma in Transformative Arts, 2011; and a BA (Hons) in Film and Video, 2005. Pisapia studied sculpture throughout his higher education and appreciated several sculptor mentors in the UK. Since 2016, he has resided in India, where he is currently an artist in residence at Studio Sukriti in Jaipur. He has had several solo exhibitions in India and his artwork is found in private collections worldwide. "It's important for me to experience the world at a deeper level by penetrating the veil of the senses. Through an immersive process the essence, beauty and the pure form of an idea are gradually revealed to me. The emerging awareness flows into my artwork imbuing it with a higher reality. To achieve this awareness in my creative process, I go through three stages: imagination, inspiration and intuition." - Flavius PisapiaCategory
