About the Item
Earth by British sculptor Ian Thomson. Thomson's travels have provided inspiration for his work. He holds degrees in Architecture and Philosophy & describes his influences as Greek and Egyptian sculpture which includes names such as Michelangelo, Rodin, Degas, Manzu and Maillol. His influences also come from closer to home, namely his mother, an artist who exhibited at the Venice Biennale. Thomson works on raw marble blocks, after painstakingly planning his vision to the last detail on a clay maquette.
