Maria Vlandi is a Greek fine art ceramic sculptor with a varied activity over the last 45 years.
She creates sculptures and monumental compositions from stoneware clay and high-temperature glazes, with traditional and ancient Greek references. Her works adorn museums and private collections all around Greece and abroad.
In the piece "black disk with symbols" Maria Vlandi creates a dark circular form in which she intensifies symbols made of high temperature white glaze.
The black substrate that organically covers the surfaces of the form, combined with the brighter writing elements that contrast, give an almost ancient quality similar to that of objects, findings of an archaeological excavation.
This one-off piece, is 100% handmade and has been signed underside by the artist herself.
